Delhi court creates history...

A session’s court in Delhi has created history by finishing the trial and giving the verdict on a murder case in just 7 days. This is a laudable achievement, one that needs to be followed by the courts across the nation.

Very sad about the verdict though which is never a solution to curb heinous crime.

I agree. The punishments seldom serve the purpose of reforming the criminals and deterring future criminals. So often, people convicted for petty crimes come out of the prisons as hardened criminals.

I wonder whether punishments like enforced social service would be more desirable for non-serious offences. This would also help to relieve the over-crowded prisons and save the tax-payer’s money.
