Happy Hollidays...

This winter vacation has turned out well. Went to Kerala after many years. First few days were @ Thiruvananthapuram with a dear friend and his family.

A visit to Attukal temple and Sree Padmanabha Swami temple on January 2nd ushered in the New Year. Kovalam beach, Mathrubhumi festival and some sight seeing made the stay @ Thiruvananthapuram memorable. On the other hand the time spent with friends were as charming and joyful as ever...

Then it was Ernakulam's turn. Met my family after a long interval. A much better experience than anticipated has eased the tensions.

Pongal and Sankranti is the time to meet my child. On to the beautiful Udayagiri where I met Ravi, some old students and friends.

So far so good. On the anvil is a Kozhikode-Kannur-Guruvayoor-Thrissur trip.

Social media has helped build new relationships and stay in touch with dear ones. So far so good...

One of the earliest posts in this blog was about an injured dog abandoned by its owner in the streets of Kozhikode. Almost a year later, I come across similar reports almost daily in the news papers. There is a small difference though, this time around it is the old, helpless men and women who are being abandoned in the streets of God’ Own Country. Over the last one week, three such incidents have been reported from different parts of Kerala. One fine morning, an old couple was found abandoned in the outskirts of Kozhikode. They were found in a roadside with a bed and some baggage. They were dumped at that spot by their kith and kin. In another incident, the old parents were found outside their own locked home. They were living with their eldest son and family, who left for Bangaluru. While leaving, the son threw out his parents and locked the home. THE TIGER IS ON THE MOVE

My nation celebrated 79th Independence Day on 15th August. The Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi hoisted the tricolor and addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. This year's speech had a strong undercurrent of a confident country on the move. Since last few years, Bharath has adopted the Nation First Policy and has followed it unabashedly. To put it bluntly, we do not care what other countries preach. We have a nation to build and we are steadfastly doing it brick by brick. Tariffs, sanctions and other punitive measures can not deter us from our path. And yes, if the world force us to fight a war, we are ready.  The worrisome factor is irresponsible opposition that we have elected. Raul Vinci has long since been engaged in destructive politics. But, we have the RSS to serve and save our nation from such demonic conspirators. The Prime Minister mentioning RSS in his Independence Day speech is a fitting tribute to the world's biggest social organization.

The thirsty mallus...

The nation was anxiously watching the first phase of elections yesterday. We Keralites also had the opportunity to have our say on the future of this nation. But, for us it was also a long holiday from 9 th of April till the 16 th with only two working days in between on 13 th and 15 th . It was festival season.  This has caused lot of hardships to common man. Personally, I got a taste of the same when we ran out of the cooking gas (Spic) on 15 th morning. The gas agency remained closed on 15 th and 16 th . I got the new cylinder delivered just 10 minutes ago. Since I was alone at home, I had food from outside. But the real challenge was the drinking water. There was no way to get the water boiled, and I had to buy the costly mineral water. I do feel that the Election Commission, the political parties and the other concerned authorities should keep in mind such factors while fixing election dates.  While I was thirsty for the drinking water, many of my fellow mallus were thirs...
